Hummingbird + Cactus
Dear Anxiety,
Thank you for all you’ve done in order to keep me safe. Up until this point, I was not able to decipher danger or confront my PTSD and coping methods. Everything kept you flying, being busy kept you flying, and you flying kept me going, hummingbird.
Rest now sweet hummingbird. I’ve done a lot of work in order for you to rest. I don’t need to be anxious to avoid what’s really going on. I don’t need to be busy all of the time. I can focus on what needs to be done.
I am the cactus in the sun, I will survive. I have survived for you, because of you. I fed you, and in return you have helped me make new seeds. This has been mutually beneficial, but now my seeds have taken root. I have grown beyond the need to feed you constantly. You can rest, and I know when I need you, you will be there. Pollenate and feed my seeds, because this cactus has grown and flourishing.
Sincerely,
Naomi
